The American Flyers Instrument Refresher Course is an innovation in instrument recurrency training. It takes advantage of the power of Flight Simulator Technology, combining it with the American Flyers Instrument Refresher Courseware for seamless simulator training on your own personal computer.
To fly safely and confidently in the IFR environment, you need a high degree of mental skills and an organized system. Our Instrument Refresher Program contains eleven lessons and approximately 20 hours of training which review IFR procedures and techniques with an emphasis on cockpit organization. The course begins with basic attitude instrument flying and moves through partial panel operations, VOR and NDB navigation, VOR, NDB, ILS, and GPS approaches, holding patterns, and culminates with a three leg IFR cross country, incorporating the use of published departure and arrival procedures.
The lessons are taught in a way that will benefit all Instrument rated pilots regardless of how current they are. After the refresher program is complete, the flight simulator continues to be a valuable training tool in allowing any approach in the US to be practiced before an actual IFR flight to that airport.
